Ginger was surrendered by her owner. The husband died several
years ago and the widow is now retiring and will be traveling.
Ginger’s life has been very sheltered, with only the occasional
visitor, no walks in the neighborhood, and only one other dog
in her life. On our first visit to see Ginger at her home, she
was very shy and would not come close until the other dog in
the household came to us. She has continued this pattern of
being shy towards new people and submissive in her foster home.
However, she quickly became her foster mom’s best friend
and wants to be right next to her. They have been on many walks.
At first Ginger wasn’t sure of the strange things around
her, but she is now very good on walks. Her foster mom has even
taken her on walks in the neighborhood without a leash, and
Ginger did not leave her side. Ginger has met several other
dogs and is learning to play. However, she is still hesitant,
seeking input/approval from her foster mom in all situations.
Ginger’s energy level is best described as medium.
Ginger does not have a chewing problem and only jumps on people
occasionally when she wants attention. She has been left in
the house unattended for short time periods without problems.
She has not chewed, destroyed, grabbed things off tables or
countertops, or any of those other habits an owner hates to
deal with.
Ginger’s family will need to be patient with her as she
learns her new home and becomes a confident, well rounded dog.
In return, they will receive an excellent dog that will shower
her new family with love, attention, and obedience.
